A manufacturer in the vinyl siding and windows market.

Background

The Company develops, manufactures, distributes and wholesales its products through a network of 90 plus Supply Centers throughout the United States market with total direct sales exceeding $600 million per year.

The Problem

With many different systems in place, costs were out of control, inventory levels were high, lead times were not competitive, and customer service levels were poor.

Scope and Assignment

Synergetics assignment was the total re-structuring of its Supply Chain. The implementation of one standard operating procedure for all supply centers and a integrated communication systems which links inventories and delivery commitments in line with competition.

The Results

An integrated operating system which guaranteed 98% order fill rates. Improved reporting accuracy led to a carrying costs reduction in inventory, increased the turns and decreased premium freight costs. Customer service levels improved as back and emergency orders decreased. All of these improvements led to a reduction in labor costs that resulted in $7-$9 million in bottom line profits.
